Theremin Madness wraps up this Friday, March 28, as Jonnie Spaceman's four week residency at ZuZu's in Cambridge, MA concludes.
Week one was the Beatles' Revolver LP; week two was disco hits of the 70's; and week three was punk/new wave/indie hits of the 70's and 80's.
This week -- week four -- we present a medley, a retrospective, a pastiche, if you will, of the material performed during the first three weeks of this groundbreaking series. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make you throw things at the guy writing these press releases.
DJ C (a.k.a. Jake Trussell of the Electro Organic Sound System, Tiger Saw, and Cul De Sac) will be accompanying the theremin antics of Jonnie Spaceman (a.k.a. Jon Bernhardt) by playing sampled loops of Beatles, disco, and punk/new wave/indie hits on his laptop.
ZuZu's has been filled to capacity all three weeks, so get there early and have some dinner or a fancy cocktail. ZuZu's is at 474 Mass. Ave. in Central Square, Cambridge, MA. Shows start at 11:30pm sharp (or a little later if there's a line outside and it looks like a bunch of people inside are about to leave). Admission is FREE.
Also be on the lookout for this Thursday's Boston Globe Calendar section. There will likely be a mention of this series in a story about the Middle East nightclub complex. Maybe a photo, too.
Jon Bernhardt plays theremin with The Pee Wee Fist and The Lothars and hosts the Breakfast of Champions radio show on WMBR 88.1fm every Friday from 8-10am. For more information, e-mail Jon Bernhardt
