Many large companies with fancy CMS systems and whole staffs of content editors don't do half the job you do in getting new and interesting content on their sites.
The two big F's of Theremin World, Front page and Forums, really help keep insterested folks coming back.
And reminders like today's are so great to have as we keep slipping away into the future.
I took time to play a tin y bit this morning before the work rush because of this notice.
many thanks!

Thanks for reminding us, Jason... Ms. Rockmore is a giant and a model for the rest of us.

Clara's performances are inspiring and awesome. Many people, including me, first discovered the beauty of the Theremin from hearing Clara's recordings.

Indeed, her "Art of the Theremin" CD is one of those CD's that I listen to often.

It's an absolutely beautiful yet tantalising recording. It's even the more impressive when you take into account when it was recorded. It's awesome to speculate how skillful she must have been at the height of her career. . . . .

A well establish thereminist mentioned today in another public e-venue that on one of the few cherished occasions he spoke to Clara Rockmore on the phone she shared the "Old Russian Blessing" she and her sister would use before uncertain shows.

It got me curious and I asked a Russian co-worker about it.
(spelled phonetically in English) "Ni puha, ni pera."
Literally means "no feathers no down" and traditionally the response is an old socially acceptable form of 'to hell', it comes from an old hunting phrase to wish good luck without jinxing it and is the idiomatic equivalent of the Amer-English "break-a-leg" or the French "merd".

It's charming to think of Rockmore sharing this late in her life with another much younger player.

9th anniversary.

Another year has sped by.
Slowing down just a moment
to remember Clara Rockmore
and what an important impact
she continues to have on
many of us later day
thereminists.

This year saw the release of some "Lost" recordings
from those last sessions with her and her sister.
That album was a new inspiration and made me
miss Clara and bemoan her small discography even more.

She is still my hero!

yes it's a gem the Lost recordings album.

I love her on the Moog video that came with my etherwave standard with her sat around the table with Bob Moog and her sister and nephew talking and occasionally playing - must get this on DVD sometime.

Yeah, that video is a treasure.
You should order it!
...never know what might happen at Moog.

I keep hoping more film of her will surface.
Of all the training tapes I got, this one of Clara is the one I've used the most and keep going back to to review technic basics.

We're very lucky some recorded and filmed record of her survived. Without that and some on going theremin manufaturers the art might not have surrvived for us to paractice now.
