I came across this http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/8713/optotheremin.html schematic some time ago, and I've been curious about it.... i have a couple of ideas that I would like to get your advice on.
First, is parts... i see the parts listed. But, i have some parts at home that I need to find a use for.... I have a crapload of mpsa27 darlington npn transistors, and some tip32 transistors pnp (the kind that are square with the metal tab at the top). I was wondering if I could possibly use those with this circuit. Any thoughts?
Secondly, I was thinking of building a box with three separately controlled oscillators, pretty much along the lines of this http://www.getlofi.com/uploaded_images/4oscillator-Schem-702558.JPG (it looks like 4 separate oscillators with a common out) but using three of the transistor Theremins. I'm also thinking of using pots instead of photocells (I know, I know, it's no longer even a theremin then, but I am keeping one oscillator photo-controlled...). What value pots would you recommend?... and , I'd like to run all three from a common power source. I see used a single 1.5 v battery. To run 3, can I use just one 1.5v battery or 3 (4.5v)? How would I wire up something like that? Where would my ground be? What about trying to use a 9v?
