Is it normal to only have a range of about 6" from the antenna?

Is this why one of the mods is to provide a large diameter antenna for better control and playability? Just curious.

I have two of those, and have yet to mod them with the foil. They both seem to stay around 6 inches or less. However, if you lean in to them with your body, the field will expand out a good bit.

You can also force a wider field by simply placing your other hand near the instrument.

If you do the mod with the foil connected to the batteries, you should get a better field, but you have to touch the foil strip, or hold the Gakken to do that.
