$250-ish

It seems to me like it's based on the Paia design given the various CV outs, but as there are pics of the inside on the website perhaps someone who has built a theremax could have a look and express an opinion?

Indeed, it is a theremax built into a suitcase.

If it is well-built, his asking price isn't bad considering that the complete kit (with lectern stand, power supply, etc.) is over $200.

From the pics, there is no way to determine the sound or playability of the instrument, though. I would expect it to be as good as a stock theremax.

I second the identification; definitely a Tmax. Nice packaging, I must say.

I quite like it, I'm not sure it'd suit a solo Thereminist very well (especially if it's basically a Theremax) but it's probably recommendable for someone looking to add Theremin to an existing electronic / noise project. If you've ever seen Smegma play you'll know what I mean.

I'dve thought the case, and the lid, and the leads/cords situated where they are would interefere with the aerials...

I'm not sure. As long as they don't move, I guess. The lid would have to go, anyway - it would very effectively conceal my pitch hand from the audience, which would take some of the magic away.

I wonder if it's been modded much, noting that the Kees Enkelaar theremin is a well modified Jaycar kit.

Certainly the CV outs make it interesting for analogue synth control.

I like the pitch loop. Has anyone lost a trombone slide recently?
