I want to start playing the Theremin - I think about it all the time :-)
I am tempted to go for the Moog Etherwave - what equipment do I need besides the Theremin?
Can I use my hifi amplifier?
I live in Denmark - can you recommend a place within the EC to buy it?

Welcome to Theremin World.

The Moog Etherwave is a good choice. Moog's dealer in Denmark is High End Tentacles (

A home hi-fi should be OK. The etherwave has a line-level audio out, so it should be plugged into one of the line-level sockets on your hi-fi. Nonetheless, read the manuals and don't blame me if your hi-fi explodes like a Star Trek bridge console. :-) I suggest that, once you are familiar with your theremin, you take it to a local music shop and audition some amps.

As the output is mono you will want a mono to stereo adaptor to place it centrally in the stereo field or, even better, a reverb effect pedal with stereo output. The unprocessed theremin sound can be rather dry without a little dash of reverb. (Or a tonne of it if you want to pretend to be playing in a massive auditorium. yT: Joe Theremin (

I recommend getting a microphone stand to mount the theremin on. It is possible to place it on the edge of a table, but a microphone stand is preferable.
