I was using my Etherwave last night for a halloween party (yes, I'm a Visigoth), and the usual control range is about 2-3 feet where the lowest pitch starts. However, for some reason, the range shifted to only about 12 inches, after adjusting the pitch control. Thinking it was a dirty pot, I rotated the sucker several times, but never got the wide range for control like it was, and which I prefer for obvious reasons.

Anyone else experience this?

Philip,

Yesterday I brought my Theremax to the office with me for Halloween. I experienced a limited range problem because of the large Aloe plant on my desk (guess an Aloe plant has a lot of capacitance). When I moved the plant away from the Theremin then the range was back to normal.

Perhaps there was something, such as a plant, in your control zone.

Every space is different.

Once I had to raise my stand to the instrument was about 5 feet off the ground to find a clear field in a crowded rehearsal space.

It made playing quite interesting....
