If this is legit, then this is a huge opportunity for someone with the means to buy it.  I've contacted the dealer for more information.  I'll follow up on this thread with anything we hear back.

the levnet levren apparently have had this theremin on the radar.

a number of members have been collecting information on this unit.

Indeed.  It seems Rob Schwimmer has been by to examine the instrument.  Here's the reply I got from the seller:

"Thank you for following up with us on this instrument. I'm excited that people are talking about it. About two and a half years ago we were contacted by a family in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn who thought it was a radio when they suggested we come by and make an offer on it. The kids were using the attenae for sword fights at the time, and they had found it in the basement. We have had the capicitors replaced, the parts cleaned, and all specifications returned to original standards, so it is fully playable and in perfect condition. It is for sale at $50,000. There are some replacement tubes from NOS. The speaker has been reconed, also. There has been nothing done to alter the original circuit, no additions, no deletions."

at $50K, a museum needs to purchase this one.
