Looks like we got spammed hard today. I am away from my computer today, so I will get the forums cleaned up soon. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Many of these spammers are active while people sleep in the US. Fortunately I'm in a different time zone and I often clean up when it's morning here, so that most of you even don't see all these dubious offers.

Thank you, Thierry - You (and Jason) do a damn good job of keeping this place clean!

The biggest bother I find from the spam isnt so much the spam itself (although this is a pain), as what it does to the order of "recent threads" - also, at times, spammers dig up threads which would never otherwise re-surface.. You seem to have managed to restore the order this time, and if this thread haddnt appeared I would not have known there was a spam attack!

I watched the spamming as it happened last night, frustrated at being unable to do anything except PM Jason and watch.. It appeared like two different spammers were active simultaneously!

Would be great if there was some way that established members here could block this when they saw it happening - perhaps a "report Spam" button that could only be clicked by established members and moved the related posting (if it was from a new member) to a "moderator bin", froze the posting rights of the alledged spammer,  and alerted the moderators... Even better if clicking one spam posting did the the above and removed all postings from that member pending moderation.

{perhaps a more sophisticated method would be for the "report spam" button to only appear on posts from non-established members - say those with less than 5 postings And / or those with less than a months membership.. But I have no idea what, if anything,  is possible to implement}

Fred.

Once again though, everything got tidied up quickly and cleanly - Many thanks to whoever did this!
