Someone in our TW gang MUST know this, or have suggestions:

What is the traditional formal concert attire for a male theremin soloist?

Tuxedo Black Tie ( black dinner jacket and matching trousers, formal waistcoat or black cummerbund, a white formal shirt, a black bow tie)

or

Tuxedo White Tie (tailcoat or cutaway, formal white waistcoat, white pique bow tie)

White Dinner Jacket/Black Tie I've always though of as strictly Summer or "casual evening wear" attire for dinner  clubs and music lounges.

I usually wear a fancy black shirt and sometimes a vintage tie, but for my next show I need to fit in with formal pre 1940 dress codes.

thanks gang!

In my rare performance situations, there are some where I'm forced to adapt to the other musician's dress code and wearing the classic black suit/white shirt/black tie) and there are others where I can freely decide what I wear. In the latter case, I decide for a "as black as possible" approach (black turtleneck sweater and black trousers), so that people will most times concentrate on my hands and what I'm doing with them, as in some black theater performances.

Thank you Thierry!  Interesting thought to try and draw focus to the hands, maybe taking the jacket sleeve up a bit to show more shirt cuff...
