Etherwave kit build using ESPE01

Bonjour Thierry,

I am at the point of final soldering of connections in my Etherwave Plus kit build. I already have the ESPE01 module ready for install.

Which of the following do you recommend:

A) build the Etherwave Plus to the letter, complete the tuning, verify proper functionality, then partially dissemble & desolder connections, install ESPE01 module and retune

or

B) cross-reference the assembly instructions of both the Etherwave Plus and ESPE01 module, installing the module as I go, before attempting to tune and verify proper functionality.

I have a Rigol digital oscilloscope and Yaege FC-1 in my possession to aid me. I am also considering fabricating a makeshift “tuning cover” out of scrap wood to account for cover capacitance while tuning.

Thanks in advance

I’d strongly recommend proceeding step by step, checking proper functionality several times in-between. While odds are relatively good that an experienced circuit builder would get it up and running all in once, diagnose would be ways more difficult in case of not seeing the expected result.

Thank you, Thierry. I appreciate the support.

I will do as you instruct and get back to you as the chance to proceed avails itself.

do you have any suggestions as to best practices when tuning up an Etherwave that are not covered in the assembly manual?

On second thought I ordered this to fit into the row of breakout eyelets:

Seems like bad practice to solder something that you are certain to desolder later.
