Is there supposed to be a thing on the end of the Etherwave rod antenna that keeps the nut from sliding off? In my "anything that can go wrong will" mode I worry about this falling off and getting lost some time when I'm packing up.
If not - what have people improvised with? An o-ring maybe?
Go to the hardware store where the toilet accessories are located. Toilet inlet pipe, the nut and the compression ring fitting should be easy to find. METAL, not PVC.
My Etherwave still has the toilet inlet pipe antenna, worked great. In a pinch I have use coat hangers and copper coil antennas. The copper coil antenna is adjustable in length and the oscillations of its automatic vibrato can be dampened by placing some plastic foam inside the coil. Automatic vibrato saves a lot of wear and tear on the wrist.
yes yes but that just slides on and off until crimped. Did you crimp yours?
If you mean the nut that attaches the antenna to the fitting on the Moog Ethervawe body, then this is a problem for many. The solution is very simple: in order not to lose it, you need to cut off the ring from the heat shrink tube, lower it almost to the fastening nut and heat it with a lighter. The heat shrink tube will shrink and the nut will never be lost.
