Some Thereminist think they create the timbre while I think the sound is a symbiotic relationship.

Valery S in Saint Petersburg Russia gives us a wonderful performance.

The fat pitch antenna is the 2020 Electrodeum pitch electrode, which uses the more forgiving parallel pitch tuning for ideal linearity.

After Paul Tanner many engineers thought a good theremin sound was a muffled whistle, not me.

The timbre is adjustable from cello - voice - violin

I'd like to hear it do cello, all the way down to C2.

dewster to get a good Cello requires a good setup. My latest PCB will make this more practical as I have learned a good low end is dependant on the L1 & L2 arrangement. After building the ThierryMin I learned fixed ferrite coils come shielded and non-shielded. I am always learning. It is my best guess shielded means the field is more inductively contained and IF transformers are more capacitive shielded.

I have never heard a good Cello that would please the Anal-One but will be better when I finish the latest PCB’s.

The lowest note in your recording is G#2 or about 103Hz.  The cello can go down to C2, or 65Hz.

I'm hearing some kind of harsh noise and mains hum that's gating with the volume.

Timbre is not nearly as important as how the notes are played.

Christopher, the is a sweet timbre in the upper range in the video.

The thicker the volume "antenna" is, the easier the play and more steady the pitch.

Perhaps to the audience.  I believe the timbre of an instrument is of key importance to maintaining the interest of the player.

And to be clear, I didn't bring up the harshness and hum I hear in Christopher's sample to be cruel - I would hope others would mention such were it to show up in my creations.

The Cello sample is from five years ago. I do not have a Phoenix at the moment as I give them away. Working on my circuit board layout and having fun with that right now.

Everyone adjusts their sound differently, I have no control over that.

My first sound that arrived in Russia, it was like a homecoming  Sample.wav  Neighbors peeked out their doors, he is back!

A more vocal sound  Sample.mp3

Edit: dewster I have nothing to sell, I share my work, give away PCB's hoping others will improve on it. After twenty years of learning I do get bothered by whiny engineers. I showed you in private years ago  how I get my sound, the transformer. I think you will eventually come around to try one to brighten up your sound. Even FredM hinted about this in the RCA.

Ah, yes, there's nothing like using a poor, ancient sound sample of an ever-changing instrument to showcase it's current abilities.

[EDIT]

"I have nothing to sell..."

Believe me, you're definitely selling something.
