Hello ;-) My name is Marielle. I live in the Netherlands, I'm system operator on paper, but in practice I'm a Lightworker, musician & (mainly pencil/charcoal/digital) artist. When I was 18 - that was in 1993 - I had Music as one of my examen branches on school, I had to write some scription about a musical subject, and as I already was fond of synthesizers (Vangelis, New Age music), I decided to write my scription about synthesizers, but for this, I needed to read some books, and that's how I somewhat bumped into the Ondes Martenot AND the theremin ... ;-) ... When I saw this famous black & white picture of Leon Theremin playing his invention, the theremin, I QUITE was somewhat embarraced and I thought: "Wow! Magical picture!", and when I read the description about the theremin and how it's sound should be, I thought: "I REALLY wanna hear one!" I had to wait for another 2 years, but, in 1995, I was with my mom in a bookstore and I found a book about electronical music and there also was a CD included ... I SURELY wanted that book, as I also found out that there was some track on it with a theremin involved ;-) And electronical music interests me anyway, so ... I kept on nagging & begging around if I PLEASE could buy that book, and although my mom didn't saw any sense of it, she finally bought that book for me ... LOL! ... The first thing I did when I was home again, was running upstairs to my bedroom, put the D in my CD player and skipped the rest of the tracks, until the track with the theremin was there ;-) What I heard was astonishing for me ... Such a warm & lovely sound out of an electronical instrument! I IMMEDIATELY loved it's sound, and I promised myself that there will be some day ... ONE day, that I would be able to play the theremin myself ... ... That day came, A LOT of years later, it was December 31 2008, 13 years later ;-) That was the day that my boyfriend finished building my Jaycar, but already in April 2009, I was "grown out" of my Jaycar, and I wanted a Moog Etherwave Plus, so, in the end of June, the day was there that I was able to welcome my Moogy :D ... I'm still in some learning stage, and I think we all will forever with theremins, but nevertheless I hope to do great things with it in the upcoming future! Feel free to ask any questions if you like to ;-)
