I'm working on it. :-)

Today I moved the mold spore to the end of the effects chain. It's better there - the wah doesn't disappear into the mix. A good use for it seems to be when I stop playing and let the repeats from the delay carry on by themselves - just adds a nice bit of variety to something that would be rather repetitive.

On the strength of that I moved my PS5 (pitch shifter with expression pedal) to the end of the chain too.

Putting the mold spore at the end of the chain in ring-mod mode is kind of interesting. The ring-mod is gated, so instead of the repeats fading gently away they kind of sputter out mechanically.

One limitation of the mold spore is that turning on the wah boosts the volume abruptly, and the ring-mod does the opposite - and both make an audible click when turned on - so turning them on and off mid performance is not so much of an option. That's ok though - I like working around limitations. :-)

Also I have been thinking about space elevator ambience. Maybe I should do two tracks - one music of space elevators, with ring-moddery, and one music for space elevators, with a bit of wah.

And also thinking about how to create a very long track without actually playing continuously for a very long time. Such as playing at double speed and an octave higher than intended, then slowing it down in post-production. Or making several loops of different lengths and playing them simultaneously. For instance, three loops of 13, 14 and 15 seconds respectively will not repeat exactly for 45.5 minutes. (As 13, 14 and 15 do not share any common factors the least common multiple is 13*14*15 = 2730 seconds = 45.5 minutes.)

Today is three years since I got my first theremin, and also the day I found out that I'm playing a short set in an as yet unnamed trio along with Arthur (Electromungo) and Phil (The Mirlitrons) at the White Label Music Christmas Party in Windsor. Great. After three years at last a gig within easy travelling distance. :-)

(Tickets here. We are listed in the line-up as Special Guests.)

On the blogs thing, I'd actually prefer that people who want to blog get a personal blogging site. I'd be happy to link to thereminist blogs from thereminworld.com in return for a link back.

So this is it.

The End.

After 687 posts and three happy years, Gordon's Progress says goodbye to Theremin World. <sniff>

BCNU.

Good-Bye, Gordon!
I hope you don't 'blog' into obscurity.

Good Luck!

Indeed not.

You don't get rid of me that easily!
