Estimating the present day value of an Etherwave Pro

Nowadays the Etherwave Pro theremins seem to be out of production. I don't know how many of them were finally built and sold (I estimate not many more than 200, but I would like to know).

Generally they are not seen at eBay: they were expensive instruments (comparing it to an electric guitar i.e.) and people paying for one of them normally they were pretty sure they were going to keep it.

I am trying to figure out what could be the present prize for a second hand , 3 years old and in good state Etherwave Pro Theremin. Not for selling by the moment, but more for assurance meanings.

Any idea?

...this has been discussed a couple of times in the forums now; the price range for 'used' (you dont touch them anyway ;o) EW Pros was lately between 1100 dollars and 1500 euros (EW Pro limited); as the current offer on eBay shows, there are people willing to pay 2800 dollars (and that auction is not over yet) for a >>new<< limited EW Pro...

The value of the Epro on Ebay (around $2800) is probably about right at the moment.

It Moog Music comes out with another theremin that is comparable to the Epro, then the cost to acquire an Epro would probably drop considerably.

For the moment, when it comes to the Etherwave Pro, it is a seller's market.

There were fewer than about 1200 Etherwave Pros with the black cabinet, and 80 limited edition Pros with wallnut cabinets produced.

The Etherwave Pro LTD on Ebay just went for $7871!

My wife wants me to sell mine! For that kind of money I am tempted.

Wow! I never would have guessed that the bidding would go that high.

All the same, I wouldn't part with my Epro.

So, less than 1200 EPro were made as Thomas says (most of them I suppose to be at US) and 80 of the ltd edition.

I thought the price for an used, black cabin EPro would be around 3000 Euro, but nowadays the USA Dollar is so low (or the Euro so high) I am not sure of its market value.

All I can say is
I continue to be amazed
and sometimes confounded.

Let's hope dear old Moog Music
gets a new version in a simplier cabinet
out on the market soon.
