Now I'm exploring plucked and strummed string sounds to try and get that sonic separation in a more tonic environment.

What's coming out of your music room...?

I have had success with plucked sounds, particularly my sampled autoharp.

Just about any kind of instrument works well with the Theremin, though for fast music a rhythmic instrument (piano, drums, mallets, guitar) helps to keep the pulse going.

I like the idea of theremin with percussion.

I like the idea of ANYTHING with percussion! I'm a Steve Reich fan and his music is a continual influence and inspiration to me.

Also, I'm enamored of multi-track theremin these days, for abstract-type pieces.

I enjoy working with multi-tracks, too. Recently on Levnet Clara Rockmore's comment: "Less is More" was mentioned in reference to the Theremin. I wholeheartedly agree. I can't imagine needing any more than 40 or 50 simultaneous theremin tracks. :)
