I found a marching band with a thereminist.

They have an extensive archive of photos. From a few dips into the archive it would appear that they do not use their theremin whilst marching.

I seem to recall his using the same gag near the beginning of [i]Bananas[/i]; I think it originated in his 1960s standup routine.

Well, I had heared of these, but completely forgot about them until I visited Fondren Guitars today. They had a wireless guitar output device. It's attatched to the guitar strap, the guitar, or theremin in this case would plug into it, and the signal is transmitted out to the wireless reciver which plugs into the amp, or sound system. The shop keeper told me about how it allowed him to go right into the audience with his guitar, and jump up on tables while playing. The transmitter is very small, and batttery powered. It's about the size of a seatbelt buckle.
