Theremin troubleshooting

Hi all.

I just finished putting together a Moog Etherwave kit. It is my first Theremin.

I was of course quite excited to play it when I got done putting everything together, but when I plugged it in, there was a problem. Instead of a tone, all I get is a series of pops. They are grouped two at a time, are steadily rhythmic, and appear at the same volume and intensity regardless of knob position or proximity to the antennae.

I have triple-checked my wiring and as far as I can tell, everything is fine. I don't see any loops or shorts, and everything seems to be connected to the proper places.

I have never done this, or anything remotely like it, before, and I honestly have no idea what the problem might be.

Any ideas? I can make a recording of the noises if that might help.

Thank you.

I fixed the problem. Two parts on the PCB were shorting each other. Seems to work fine now.

Congrats!

Often problems on circuit boards are like this, something got bumped and something broke, 2 things shorted, etc.
