I found a contest where they are giving away a theremin for the most unusual "event sound".

http://www.thecellfreak.com/want-to-win-a-theremin/

The site also mentions Good Vibrations so I will correct them on that little tidbit of dysinformation.

Here is the actual site where the contest is being held:

Maybe some of you can fire up your thermeins and analog synths to create some new noises...

Me and my babies are game. My guess is that they're giving away an E-Standard.

You'll have to be quick - the closing date (http://www.8hands.com/blog/2007/02/28/are-you-ready-for-the-8hands-sound-events-challenge/) is March 21st. That's er... ... ... eek! Today!

My guess is the prize is one of these (http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=C6841).

That seems more likely than an Etherwave, doesn;t it?

I didn't realize the deadline was today.

I guess I won;t make it home in time to record anything.

Awe, gosh, gee, wiz! and dang-it all, ya just knew I'd miss out on somethin' like this. Just my luck.

My bet's on the little kit as a prize too.

Yep. I wish I had run across this a few weeks earlier.

It was interesting to read how they came up with some of the "event sounds", though.

Robert Fripp was involved in the Windows Vista startup sound....

I wonder if he gets a royalty every time someone turns on their PC....

Probably not, but you can bet Bill Gates likely screwed him out of royalties some how. If not, he likely gets royalties for each copy of vista sold.

My guess would be they all got a small fee and nothign else.

I'll bet they recorded it on a Mac.
