I found a contest where they are giving away a theremin for the most unusual "event sound".

It was interesting to read how they came up with some of the "event sounds", though.

Robert Fripp was involved in the Windows Vista startup sound....

I wonder if he gets a royalty every time someone turns on their PC....

Probably not, but you can bet Bill Gates likely screwed him out of royalties some how. If not, he likely gets royalties for each copy of vista sold.

My guess would be they all got a small fee and nothign else.

I'll bet they recorded it on a Mac.
