Actually - Mute is only ok if you have complete control over it (and you never will!).. The silent treatment is far worse! (or at least equally bad) - so disregard my prior advice! ;-))

Also.. There may be a mute switch, but it tends to become dysfunctional the moment you get married.. (as does the on/off switch).. but these are mysteriously "compensated" by the sudden addition of a "loop" or "repeat" function you have absolutely no control over.

Damn! - all my efforts to be PC in my postings have just gone up in smoke......
