More info on the Asheville Theremin Festival

Does that mean your wife is going to let you go? Heck...you can celebrate your anniversary anytime. Besides that, you have a new one every year! ;-)

Haha... yep - it's looking that way. Our 5 yr. anniversary is actually on August 12th, so we'll probably do something else the following week.

Anyone else from Thereminworld planning to be there for sure? The event plans are shaping up nicely - should be a festival to remember!

Well, for what it's worth, I'm shooting for that goal. I'll have to put off a week of vacation and put in some overtime now that schools out for the summer (for me). (I'm one of those "mature" students.)
I'm hoping I can improve my playing substantially by then, otherwise I'd probably be too self-conscious to play in front of others. (Assuming that would be one of the activities.)

Such events occur so seldom, that I am tempted to buy a theremin and go. How do such events work, do attendees just sit and listen to instructors? Do attendees get much opportunity to play?

I have been surprised that there is not a theremin event somewhere every year in North America.

It is sad that it's been eight years since the last international theremin festival, but not that surprising.
According to Olivia Mattis, who organized the festival in 1997, she tried to make it an annual event, however there was a lack of interest in sponcership for a second one. Like it or not, it takes a substantial investment in time and money to host such an event. And, lets face it, the interest in the theremin is still restricted to a very small group of enthusiasts.

Strongly planning to be there - it's only a five-hour drive from Raleigh.
