hey dom,

the volume knob is not a volume knob as it is on a amp or so. it's to set how high you have to lift the volume arm to get the full volume.

double and triple check your soldering. i followed these instructions : etherwave tuning. wich brings the unit into a playable state. not perfect, but playable. for ultimate fine tuning: go to colmar for the summer academy and meet thierry. he tames every whacked theremin.

do you live near my place?

Normally, the main PCB comes well pre-adjusted, thus, even without touching at the variable inductors, you should get a playable instrument, perhaps not with optimal linearity and pitch range, and perhaps with non-ideal volume response. But it should work.

Before fumbling around with the tuning, one should check with a multimeter (the black probe always at the green ground wire) :

Black wire : -11.3V
Orange wire: +12V
Brown wire: 0 - +12V depending on the Brightness setting
Red wire: 0 - -11.3V depending on the Waveform setting
Blue wire: 0 - -11.3V depending on the Pitch setting
Violet wire: 0 - -11.3V depending on the Volume setting
