Hi!

I am currently building the EM Theremin and have managed to get my hands on some Coilcraft SLOT-TEN inductors to replace the Toko ones. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get the prescribed 5-10, but I rather have 5-11, 5-12, 1-10, 1-11, 1-12 and 1-13 (Yep, pretty much everything but what I need ).

Would one of those inductors function in place of the 5-10?

Thank you!

I would think any of those would do as they all include the 5-10 range, probably most practical to take the closest match, the 5-11 as that would offer the finest possible adjustment within the desired inductance range.

Those are part numbers not an inductor range.

Thanks for pointing that out, Christopher. In that case the 5-11 and the 1-12 get closest to the inductance range the 5-10 has. I have no idea if unshielded and having a different core then ferrite matters here, overall the 5-12 seems the closest match in type and inductance range, starting and ending at somewhat higher inductance values, which might just work out ok, or otherwise the capacitor with which it forms an LC tank circuit might need to have a slightly lower capacitance value to end up with the same resonant frequency adjustment range.

Always shielded so the two oscillator will interact less. This is what causes unwanted distortion in the sound or not being able to have a low breakout point from Zero Beat or Null. This is why Thierry's Bass mod is useful on poor designs.
