Hi,

So I had the idea to make an 'Invisible' volume pedal for guitar. I'm a bit of an electronics novice/Theremin noob but basically I want to use a capacitive proximity sensor in place of a potentiometer in a volume pedal circuit. Can anybody please share with me (in layman's terms) the parts required to make a simple Theremin volume control circuit and whether its possible to control a guitar signal like this?

Is there a volume only theremin circuit that could be adapted?

Am I just going to get electrocuted???

Thanks,

Max.

There was a rather lengthy discussion of something similar here:

Over a very small distances (an inch or three - not Theremin distances) you might be able to use a stable RC oscillator, like the 555, rather than LC.

Get a breadboard, an assortment of parts, a DMM, a scope - and go to town.
