ERIC ROSS, American composer, is featured artist at John F. Kennedy
Performing Arts Center, Washington, DC, June 8, 2002, in a multimedia
concert of his music with video and computer art by his wife, Mary Ross.
ERIC ROSS premiered his Concerto at Lincoln Center. He's performed
concerts of his works at Newport Jazz Festival, Montreux, Switz, & Berlin
Jazz Festivals, Brussels Palais des Beaux Arts, Copenhagen New Music
Festival, and Gilmore International Keyboard Festival among many others
worldwide. For over twenty years he's led his ensemble that's featured jazz
giants, John Abercrombie, Larry Coryell, Andrew Cyrille, Oliver Lake, Leroy
Jenkins, New Music Virtuosos, Youseff Yancy, Lydia Kavina, Robert Dick and
others. He performs on piano, guitar, synthesizers, and is a master of the
Theremin, one of the earliest electronic instruments. This year he's
released two new CDs, "Live at Berlin JazzFest" and "Mars2Earth". The New
York Times calls his music "a unique blend of classical, jazz, serial and
avant-garde."
MARY ROSS - has worked with photography, video and computer art since
1976. She's received grants from the NEA, NYSCA, and others. She's exhibited
at major galleries and museums in New York, Paris, London and Tokyo. Her
work has been published in "Modern Photography", "Videography","British
Annual Journal of Photography, and is in the permanent collection of the
Bibliotheque National, Paris; Kunsthaus, Zurich; Royal Library, Copenhagen,
and the Lincoln Center Library for Dance. She is currently writing her
second book on "Pioneering Digital Photography".

Eric Ross hat mit seiner Multimedia-Performance aus der Kombination
akustischer und visueller Mittel eine ebenso außergewöhnliche wie zeitgemäße
künstlerische Ausdrucksform entwickelt, bei der Bilder und Musik völlig
gleichberechtigt nebeneinander stehen. Der innovationsfreudige Künstler
präsentiert mit der Berliner Workshopband, welche vor einigen Jahren mit
dem
Gastleiter Keith Tippett ihre Arbeit begann, eine Performance bei der
elektronische und akustische Musik auf der einen - und Synthese aus
bearbeiteten Videobändern, Standbildern und computergestützter Kunst auf
der
anderen Seite - zu einer Einheit zusammenfließen.
Der Multiinstrumentalist und Komponist Eric Ross benutzt Synthesizer,
Klavier und Gitarre. Außerdem ist er einer der zeitgenössischen Komponisten,
die das Theremin, eines der ältesten und ausdrucksstärksten elektronischen
Instrumente einsetzt.
