Hi,

I was wondering what happens if I paint the Moog etherwave standard? It is finished in black, but I would prefer some other colour. Can it affect the sound? What I found out that the theremins you build from the kit can be painted, but how about in this case?

Hi Noora,

If the paint you use has metal or carbon content it will undoubtedly affect the tuning of your instrument.

Most don't, and if they do they will probably say so on the tin, but I strongly suggest painting a sheet of paper first, laying it atop your etherwave and seeing if the tuning changes. If it doesn't you'll be OK.

(The tuning may change temporarily while the paint is drying.)

Thank you! I will first try with paper! :)
