A LEVNET reader posted this link to the sheet music for "Oh Canada" today:

http://www.igra.com/Resources/Guidebook/05/05-03_Canadian_Anthem.pdf (http://www.igra.com/Resources/Guidebook/05/05-03_Canadian_Anthem.pdf)

Also, Peter Pringle offered to make a background music file available for folks to play along with.

Now, who will be first to send me a photo of the Canadian flag flying from your pitch antenna? :)

I've already got the music propped up on the top of my Etherwave- complete with Maple leaf in the corner!

I'll probably be submitting an 'a capella' recording.

I've only received 1 entry so far folks... Surely more of you will enter before the 15th?

I just tried to play it to along with an mp3 of a woman singing it acapello (Celine?).

Man I think you gotta be Canadian to get that tune right....

Don't worry. I entered too! Good luck everyone, and if you're reading this before the 15th of August and have a theremin. . . . then make a recording!

how did you find playing it Charlie ? i thought it was really hard. i wonder if the festival has kept people from having the time to give it a go ?

Hmmm. I suppose the festival might have stopped people from being bothered to practice and record the piece, but if people like us can do it, then the thereminists who had expert tutoring from a whole host of virtuosos at Ethermusic should be able to as well.

If anything the people who didn't go are at a disadvantage!

I actually found 'Oh Canada!' quite difficult to start off with- I thought it was a rather strange tune. The fact that I'd never even heard it before didn't really help, but after listening to it for ages I think I eventually got it. It was really fun though- I loved doing the leaps at the end. You can make them sound very 'vocal'.

Anyway. Good luck to everyone. And enter! There's still time. . . . (sort of)

I've added a new contest page (contest.asp) to the site to keep a history of the contest winners. Sorry about the timing on this one folks. Next month, I'll make sure we pick the winner on a Saturday so we won't have to wait a week to hear the winner on Spellbound (http://spellbound.purplenote.com).
