Hey everyone,

We are three high-schoolers from the Netherlands and for our final project we are building our own theremin.
Next to that we are composing some simple theremin pieces, but since we don't have a working theremin yet (and on top of that, we have not have acquired the skill yet), we were hoping to find someone willing to help us out and record one of our pieces for us.

On top of that we are experimenting with alternative notation for theremin music specifically, so if you would like to help us test out the user-friendliness of our notation, we would very much appreciate that.

Thanks guys!

Isis, Janko and Marie

Why not post the sheet music here and let anyone who is willing to post recording in the reply? If you don't want to do that, you can send it to me in a message if you like, I'll give it a shot!

Simple easy kit volume only:

https://harrisoninstruments.com/index.html#Products

Plans for more advanced theremins with tubes 126, 125 theremins, and the solid state 145 theremin
https://theremin.us

I recommend a challenge with great rewards:
https://theremin.us/145/145.html

Lots of people have built Harrison's designs and the two plate antenna theremins are easy to play, stable and do not require the use of vibrato as the plate antennas are very forgiving of any unintentional lateral movement of the hand.

On that page in this country Harrison Instruments model 302 theremin is available at reverb for 299 - what it cost new, new ones cost more now. Best theremin ever.

Use your computer as the recorder, usb music interfaces are not that expensive and most come with crappy editing software that works, otherwise use AUDACITY - I do.

I use a zoom r16 for multitrack recording - there are many digital recorders out there, some affordable.

Good luck, Happy Theremining, and NEVER EVER try to play "Flight of the Bumblebee" - please.

Notation . . . so young, so naive . . .

welcome to the swamp and morass:

Click on the images tab, google doesn't do the image link.

Need bleach for mine EYES!!!

But back to the olden times of my youth:

again, click on the  images tab.

And Youtube - if you like electronic music, love Xenakis:

Now that is some BEAUTIFUL notation . . .

ART over CRAFT.

Aim high.

Hi Isis, Janko and Marie,

Greetings from Twente. Where in the Netherlands are you? What theremin circuit are you building?

hi! yes we are in Amsterdam and we are making our theremin from the schematics from http://www.strangeapparatus.com/Theremin.html , but it is a pitch-only theremin in the making for now...

Wow! Ja als we nog ergens tegenaanlopen dan zou dat inderdaad heel fijn zijn!. Bij ons op school hebben wij ook dergelijke meetapparatuur, en komen daarmee redelijk ver. Maar alsnog bedankt!!

Hi you all, You’d better try your luck with building the Thierrymin theremin or the Moog Etherwave from scratch because the Strange Apparatus is indeed a strange theremin and is very difficult to get working properly as Thierry pointed out already.
I wish I could add some photo’s to this post but somehow I am not able to get a link to my photo’s .
I will P.M. my email address to you
