Develops from Nature. . . a gift to those who dare to explore it. I will be meeting my young friend Tanner entering his forth year at MIT, maybe next week or so. He is home on summer vacation. He is already getting job offers from all over the world and yet being home he wants to build my Phoenix theremin design. The Theremin Phenomenon needs better documentation in how the beautiful sound comes about. Many modern theremin designs fall way short in sound and must rely on gimmicks.

Previously Tanner built a vacuum tube theremin and the Open Theremin.

If you are into the Stock Market my research below is priceless. My computer tracks over 1200 hand-picked stocks in "real time" and gives all who visit "daily" updates in where the action is. . . so avoid go nowhere stocks and relying on wishful thinking.

Christopher,
what is the "classic sound"? Is the EWS a "classic sound"?

I know some people don't like the sound of Clara's custom theremin, for example. If it weren't for her virtuoso performance technique,  the sound would be unbearable.

Secondly, the sound is largely determined by the accoustic end (loudspeaker). By clever design the signal can be made to sound much better than it sounds in its native form. An example of this is  Ondes Martenot.

ILYA asked what the “classic sound” is?  Is the EWS a "classic sound"?

The meaning of Classic: “Judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding for its kind”

I do not compare my theremin design to these things you mention, Clara had her own sound while Moog has his sound.

My research is all original exploring the "Classic Theremin Phenomenon". My sound develops from within the circuitry and maybe elsewhere? ... while not relying on a speaker or acoustics.

If better understood how my sound comes about it can be improved upon. For those that have seen the video the sound you hear was recorded at Valery's kitchen table and what was revealed surprised us all right out of the box.

My greatest fear is the beautiful Theremin Phenomenon, in all its simplicity, being lost to imitation.

Seen in this image is how the phenomenon develops.

Two RF Oscillators and a resonating helix pitch antenna for ideal pitch field linearity, also very important is being earth grounded. Not seen is a small audio transformer and how it is applied. In other words the sound you hear comes from $10 worth of readily available electronic components and it will be improved upon. Just add a volume control and amplification.

The helix pitch antenna was shortened for this picture, otherwise it is 18" or 46 cm in height.
