I have a little free time coming up, so I was curious what you'd like to see most improved on the website?

Here are some suggestions, but feel free to list your own!  In no particular order:

- Forum RSS feeds

- Forum e-mail notifications (like we had in the old site where you could be notified when someone added a reply to a topic you're following)

- Commend e-mail notifications

- Display dates and times in a format appropriate for your timezone

- Page translation to different languages

- Tracking number of topic and article views, so you can find popular content quicker

- User-generated content (e.g. users can submit articles, items for our "list" pages, photos, etc.)

- facebook login

cheers

Jason

Facebook page name would be great...
Would be great if old topics could be 'Unlocked' to add replies even if they are 4 years old or so...

Thanks.  Actually, I believe all the posts are unlocked at this point.  Are you seeing one you can't post to?

Just out of curiousity, is there a way we could add our email address to our profiles without making it a target for spammers?  It would be nice to be able to contact people privately, with their consent of course.

Private messages are on my list of things to add, but being a larger feature, I don't exactly know how soon I can get it done.  I will scope it out to see how work it will be.  Would you want to be able to allow anyone to send you a PM or just people you have marked as "friends"?  I don't want to reinvent Facebook though :)

Jeff - you can put your email address, suitiably spam-proofed (i.e. gordonc {at} theremin {dot} org {dot} uk) -- or links to your social network profiles -- in the bio part of your thereminworld profile if you want to be contactable.

Jason - It would be nice to be able to format my bio with carriage returns and clickable links.

Great idea Gordon!  I'll add bio formatting to the list.  Thanks!

Instead of reinventing the wheel I added my Yahoo Instant Messenger name in my TW profile. I have not used it in ten years but got the 2011 fresh download so I hope I got it right. My nic is dilemmania my computer is on 24/7 these days because the theremin project I am developing calls at all hours. You creative type know what I mean, the urge of inspiration can come at 3 am and you must visit the computer. This same app communicates with Facebook, what ever that is.

I like "Tracking number of topic and article views" and "Forum e-mail notifications."

Something else I was looking for but didn't find was a preview option for replies. I like to see that special formatting and such is right before hitting the Post button.

I've added tracking of the forum topic views now, and I added a new page showing the top 30 most viewed posts. Between that and the existing Recent Posts view, hopefully it'll be really easy to see where all the action is.

For tracking Article views, views counts are already being tracked on the back-end, but I'm still working out where I'd want to see the number of views.  If you know of any sites that do a great job of showing this kind of information and making it easy to find popular articles, please let me know.

Thanks!
