Goals for a TW Theremin

I really don't want all this attention Fred has brought upon me but I find it to be a nice compliment.

As a reminder, I have nothing to sell or prove, I'm just a hobbyist. If the use of the letters TW is offensive when I use it, I will avoid it in the future.

Probably ;-) .. Like me, you are probably wasting time on this BS.

When I entered the string "Thereminist Warriors" (with quotes) I got the same as you, when I used the search Thereminist AND Warriors I got a lot more - The 2nd "hit" was the only "hit" I got with the words "Thereminist Warriors" as a "composite" - This "hit" (2nd in the list) was:

Utterly laughable is the idea that this gives any "rights" to the abreviation "TW" - Its like saying that because I have posted the words "Theremin Wanna-be" I have the right to use the abreviation "TW" to mislead people - which is what this whole matter is REALLY about!

For me, this matter is now closed and out of my hands. I have expressed my opinion and outrage, and I have postulated my ideas about the legal criterion - IMO, "TW Theremin" is legitimately defendable as property of TW - and I sincerely hope that TW does not ignore (as I see it) this potential threat to TW's good name.

Ideally, the war lord in charge of the "Thereminist Warriors" will do the right thing and accept that he is entirely in the wrong on this matter, change his plans, and remove reference to the "TW Theremin" (or at least his proposal to call his Enigma or any other theremin not 'validated' by the TW project the "TW Theremin") from his web site.

If he does not do this, I sincerely hope that he will get a legal letter from Theremin World managment. If anyone can produce "TW Theremins" without TW authorisation, I will certainly not be contributing any more to this project - there wont be any point - because no one will know whether the "TW Theremins" were of any use to anyone, or whether they had actually originated at TW. Worst, people will assume TW is responsible for them, and we could be inundated with technical problems related to fake TW theremins.

The great advantage of TW approved "TW Theremins" will be that the entire development history and documentation will be HERE - This is the central, essential advantage - If we lose this, we lose the lot IMO. I really dont care if TW Theremins are manufactured and sold a TW Theremins - As long as they ARE TW Theremins!

Fred’s Reply: Chris, There is "constructive benefit to revealing" even if what you reveal is "trashed".. We dont get better because people pat us on the back and say how wonderful we (or our designs) are - we get better when we listen, learn, and try to do things better if we got them wrong.

In this thread I removed my suggested Optical Theremin, recognized as the internet standard. I removed access to what my heterodyne theremin pc board revealed in the opening posts after Fred stated anyone could draw up my board in 30 minutes (that’s a chop) after my years of research.  I have nothing to sell and my theremin work is private. Fred you come across so loud on this TW board it is obvious you are by nature oblivious to the "proper" interpretation of anyone else's big idea, you then stomp out competing participation.

Fred I need you to succeed, so don’t use my honesty as your excuse, if you have been looking for one, to storm out of here and quit. Stop looking at the door! Theremin research is a punishing lonely place and I don’t have the time to play games. Stop looking at my posts as a threat, it's because this thread went dormant that you start looking to kick people in the teeth.  Anger is a good motivator or does it reveal your insecurity?

If I did put you down back then in the way you describe, I am truly sorry - but I dont think I did.) - But say nothing about the issue in hand. I ignored the final tirade of personal abuse from you, and left that thread to fizzle out withour reply.

Until you say "I will not advertise or produce or publish anything declaring it to be "The TW Theremin" without aproval from the TW community" I have no interest in anything else you say.

Oh, and for the record,

I, Fred Mundell, herebye declare that I will NEVER publish, release, produce or manufacture anything in which I use the Theremin World name, or abreviation TW, or prefix or logo, unless such action is agreed and authorised by Jason on behalf of TW. I furthermore will make every effort to ensure that nothing I say or do could lead people to believe that I have TW endorsement if I have not obtained such endorsement from Theremin World first, and that if I accidentally did anything which was deemed to by TW to be misleading, will immediately rectify the situation and remove such material.

All you need to do to clarify your words is to copy the above and "sign" it, and then to take immediate action by removing the words "This may be re-introduced as the $125 TW Theremin" from your website.

OoooooHHHH!!! I saw that very theremin that you posted Dominik! I was at Sarah's house and he came to meet us for us to try it and it sounded warm and beautiful! Lovely tone, linearity and volume response. I was very impressed! (But who am I to comment, I am still just a newbie)

Ive been swamped with school and other work for the last month or so I havent been good at posting any updates since  the 'teaser' posto above.    I have found  the time to meet with a few thereminist in th NY area- (Amethyste thanks for the kind review-  it was my pleasure.)

Still ironing out the details but so far so good- it now has a 'real' cabinet and a few front panel user controls for altering the sound,like -waveform, brightness.

As soon as I finish this (epic) art history assignment and all this holiday nonsense is over, I'll be building another for Rob Schwimmer and I'm hoping that he'll record some pretty audio samples for me to post.

Whatever it is, visually its a work of art! - If it sounds as good as it looks, I think you have a winner.

Certainly a design you want in a transparent cabinet!
