There has been quite a bit of SPAM lately here in the TW forum, and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. I have personally notified both our moderators (Jason & John) but so far the posts have not been removed.

Is everybody asleep?

Well...yes. I just deleted about 10 new spam posts today as soon as I woke up :) Let me know if you see any I've missed.

When I delete the user and posts, they just re-join and start posting spam under a new account.

Short of adding CAPTCHA for all new posts, I'm not sure what else we can do about this. If you have great ideas, please let me know.

captcha until you ready 20 posts or so is a good measure I think...

That's what I've been thinking. I'm also looking at a "flag post" feature that will alert me to posts that are spam so you don't have to bother sending me e-mail yourselves.

Sad we have to do this, but 'tis a reality.

Jason ~

All posts by well054 are spam - they have nothing to do with Theremins...

O.K. - Jason & John are fully aware of the problem and are on top of it. Checking out what's happening on Theremin World is part of my morning coffee ritual, and I get up at 5 o'clock EDT (my dog makes sure of that) so I am probably among the first people in North America to catch a suspicious or off-topic post.

And to think I spent much of my life getting up at noon!!

Sigh... I was actually awake at that time last night - should've checked before I crashed :)

TW2 will have impenetrable SPAM protection. Violators will be annoyed with vibrato-thick pitch-only theremin noise with heavy delay... played by Ke$ha!

My main action in the first three days of being technical editor here has been deleting 4 spam posts and 2 spam users...

I did that for a forum for a while, while the forum owner organised a better solution. There is something satisfying about clicking the delete button on a spammer.

Sometimes I accompanied the action with a cry of "die, spammer, die!"

Today I felt really deceived. Opening TW - Forums - Recent posts and happy that there were 3 new posts in different areas, what a surprise! But when looking closer, bad surprise: I found that all 3 were spams and deleted them.
