Count me in! (as a Theremin fan - I've been one for years, as a theremin player - I'm very new...although playing it reminds me of conducting - sound by just moving your arms!). Will need to know the date weeellll in advance tho...

Have fun!

Yes, sounds a good idea - would be nice to have something happening this side of the pond! I live about 40miles east of Brentford so this is pretty 'local' to me - absolutely no excuse not to attend!

This really is an excellent idea. We musn't let it become one of those sorts of ideas that never comes to fruition. Gordon was excellent at organising the Happy Birthday thingy, so I trust him whole-heartedly in arranging this one.

And now we are seven!

I'm thinking about alternatives to the musical museum in case they don't want visitors at all this year. I haven't found any other RCAs on display, but there is always a chance that there could be a theremin concert at a convenient time and venue - somewhere pretty central and of a weekend would be good.

Could you guys post here if you hear about something on those lines.

Are any of you considering going to Ethermusic 2006? Last year's event had people from several countries, and the sponsorship you're looking for is already included :)

Finances don't permit me, unfortunately. I'd love to have gone otherwise.

But a minor hitch like that sure ain't going to stop me meeting up with a bunch of Theremin-Worlders.

Yes - same here. Just can't justify the cost of a trip to the States, nice though it would be. Hopefully we'll get plenty of reports back through TW like last year :)

I see NinkiV has a gig on 7th July in London - could be a possible starting point?

Well spotted J_D!

Here's more details.

Friday 7 July 2006 8:00 pm - 2:00 am (approx.)
Bomonti Russian Club
340 Kingsland Road,
E8, London,
Cost: 6/4

Ninki V describe it as - Songbird is an amazing mix of musical things, poetry... run by lovely Diana.

This was the lineup for the May 5th Songbird...

Naomi Foyle - Poet
Grace & Delete -Casio & Clarinet duo
Nancy Cunliffe - Harp, Keyboard & Vox
Raagnagrok -Electro-Sitar & Synth
16mm film by Diana Mavroleon - Field of Women (15min)
an Arkhos - Guitar & Drums trio
Gemma Ray Ritual (6 piece band)
DJ bpm - Katharine Mc'Ceigh
Petronella -Egyptian Belly Dancing
MC - Diana Mavroleon

It does sound like an interesting event, with a bit of theremin!

If we were to go for it, the plan would be something like this.

We gather at my house Friday afternoon for socialisation and takeaway. I'm just outside Watford, good for M1, M4, M40, M25, London Underground (Croxley Station) British Rail (Watford Junction) and Heathrow!

In the evening we drive into Hackney (as it finishes too late for public transport) and afterwards back to local B&B's or motels.

Option of Survivor's Brunch at Chez Charlton on Saturday morning before heading home.

Possible disadvantages - not enough notice, show goes on too late for some, too far for some to travel.

I think the current plan is this -

Please post as soon as possible to say, "Yes, I would be up for this" or "Not good for me."

If it's not good for you please say why. This will help us to refine our understanding of what our requirements are as a group, and home in on a more appropriate event.

If I see a whole bunch of Yesses, I shall start gathering local motel/b&b info. If not, I won't be disappointed - these are early days yet.
