nature has got us beat. turns out there is a fish, gymnarchus niloticus, swimming in the murky, opaque Nile which can sense nearby objects using ELECTRIC FIELDS. Head positive, tail negative, at 400Hz, it can sense object near it without sight.

Maybe gymnarchus is "perch fishing".
