Remember: the three players above all play using different methods, and consequently they all sound different. Style and expression on the theremin are determined in large part by the technique used by the player. If you want to sound like Samuel Hoffman, don't expect to be able to do it using Clara Rockmore's method.

As Clara herself said, "The most important thing for people beginning the theremin is to know, before they start, where they want to go."

The great thing about learning the theremin today, as opposed to ten or fifteen years ago, is that there are plenty of resources and lots of support. It s important, however, to make sure that the resources you use are the ones that are going to get you where you want to go.

With the theremin, all roads do not necessarily lead to Rome.
