It appears everyone is on Spring break this week.

What would be considered the ideal distance for shading the volume, the travel distance of the hand from maximum volume to total muting of the volume?

What was the distance difference of the Epro before and after the recent modification?

There is no "ideal" distance for volume control because it depends on your personal playing style. Some people prefer a "snappy" volume response (about two inches between mute and "mezzo piano") and some people (like myself) prefer a slower response (between four and five inches between mute and "mezzo piano").

Accurate control of slow crescendos, decrescendos, and pianissimo is difficult with a snappy loop, and staccato playing is difficult with a loop that is very slow.

If you are the owner of an Etherwave Pro, you can install Thierry Frenkel's volume module on your instrument and have a choice of several settings for volume response. You can adjust the response to whatever is required by the piece you are playing. THAT is the ideal.
