What has happened to the "THERELYMPICS"?

Who has won the Gold Medal?

Who the Silver??

Who the Bronze????

Have the judges decided to quite the podium because there are liable to be tears?

That brings up another question: WHO ARE THE JUDGES?

Are they really competent to judge whose submission is best, or are they able only to say which submission they LIKED the best. Few people are able to say of any work of art, "This is not my personal cup of tea, but it's BRILLIANT nevertheless!"

There's a wonderful moment in the recent film, THE IRON LADY (starring Meryl Streep as British PM, Margaret Thatcher) in which a journalist asks Mrs. Thatcher how she feels about a particular situation. This is a paraphrase of her reply: "Why do you people always want to know how someone 'feels'? We place so much importance on how people 'feel' about this, or 'feel' about that. Why don't you ask me what I THINK?"

Coalport, What do you think?

I think we should let sleeping dogs lie!

If we don't, we shall have endless "thank you all so very very kindly" tweets from Thomas, Amey will rush from the podium in floods of tears, Freddy will write reams about what the competition could have been but wasn't, while that Pringle guy (who contributed nothing) makes snide remarks about everybody!

Lol - you are probably mostly right, Peter -

Except that I dont usually write about "what could have been" - IMO, everything which "has been" had to "have been" - the course is plotted, and we are just acting our respective roles mostly unaware that the script we are following was "written" in the first few moments following the big bang.

So if I ever write about what "could have" or "should have" been, I am being forgetful and / or foolish - I am trying to live my life with a focus of "positive determinism" (as opposed to fatalism) - As in, I cannot affect the past - but I can affect the future.. within the constraints that whatever I "choose" to do has, in effect, been predetermined.

We never really planned on making it a competition... it was more about challenging people to play something they hadn't before and sharing their music with the world.  In a socialist/Millennial way... everyone wins :)

"In a socialist/Millennial way ... everyone wins " - Jason

Yeah!  - Thats language I understand and "resonate" with! ;-)

"Win-Win or no deal" ! that was the "habit" from Stephen Covey's "7 habits of highly effective people" which I found most exciting - and the one thing I really fully embraced from his book (a lot of the book is IMO dangerous nonsense) .. It is also a wonderful idea which children embrace automatically when introduced to it, and is what I use when dealing with disputes between my children..

Doesnt work quite so well with some adults though..

Coalport mentioned something about "Thanks ever so kindly tweets...". Right. Well, now I know twitter and FB are crawling even my comments at youtube when I respond to viewer comments, I'll have to break those links between FB, twitter, and youtube. I rarely directly post on twitter, and FB, and monitor them even less.

I dont trust FB one bit - Visit it extremely rarely, but when I do I am sometimes shocked by what I find there.. I had a "message" "from" Lydia Kavina on it last time I visited -

Paraphrased: "Lydia Kavina has said you are a great musician, and you are therefore invited to our exclusive club..."

In curiosity I clicked on it, went through a "questionare" and then a list of all my "friends" appeared for me to select who were musicians.. at which point I exit'ed the app... I guess that anyone I had clicked would have recieved a "Fred said you are a great musician... " message - when I never said anything of the kind!

@FredM: Yeh, that's one of the reasons I don't monitor those sites. I actually had a problem with some kids at some school in the north east U.S. to spoof my user name and profile pic, and then attempted defamation of charactor. I was able to contact the school and get things sorted straight away, FB has since started policing that sort of thing. It's actually now a crime to spoof or fake a user account here. So yeh, I've had serious misgivings about some of these sites. FB creeps me out a bit what with all the tagging, and comment crawling ect.
