His photo holding a glass of wine, taken during his last visit with Clara Rockmore in New York, hangs on my wall beyond the theremin.
I often look at it and ponder him during tough passages of music and in life. His invention changed my life, and his survival in the Gulag inspires me and gives me renewed perspective when I need it most.
I'm still celebrating his birthday with the deepest thanks he was born and became the inventor of our instrument.
