Moog Music sends letter explaining Etherwave Pro delays

Mike Adams, president of Moog Music sent us a copy of a letter the company recently mailed to customers who pre-ordered the new Etherwave Pro theremin. As a recent Levnet post reported, the delays are partly due to complications in developing the new Murf Moogerfooger pedal, and partly due to this being Moog's 50th anniversary and all the phat parties they keep attending ;) Go Bob go!

You've gotta hand it to a company willing to be as straightforward as Moog about delays in such a highly anticipated product.

Here's the full text of the letter:

"The purpose of this letter is to apologize for the delay in shipping of the Moog Etherwave Pro. In this Bob’s 50th year in the music business, there have been a number of unique opportunities to “spread the word” about our small company – Moogfest concerts, the upcoming “Moog” movie, and lots of people interested in interviewing Bob. Adding to our delay has been the fact that completing the MuRF – a new addition to our Moogerfooger family of analog effects - turned out to be a more difficult project than we had anticipated. All of this has resulted in a delay in the development of the Etherwave Pro. Initially, we thought it would be a couple of months. Now it appears that we will not be delivering the Etherwave Pro until late Summer. For this we sincerely apologize.

On a positive note, we have completed the design of the cabinet, and all mechanical aspects of the instrument. The Pro will be housed in a stunning tiger stripe maple. It will ship with a custom made stand and a new DVD tutorial that features Bob and Pamelia Kurstin. We believe you will find this product even more appealing than the promise of the original prototype.

We will leave it up to your discretion to determine how you would like to handle your outstanding order. If you need to cancel your order, we completely understand. If you choose to continue to support your outstanding order, it would be greatly appreciated from a planning perspective, and you will be rewarded with a truly great instrument from the world’s leading developer of theremins.

Again, Bob and I extend our personal apologies to you for this delay. We greatly appreciate the support you already extend to us and we will endeavor not to show you products that cannot be delivered on a timelier schedule in the future.

Michael J. Adams, President
Robert A. Moog, Chief Technical Kahuna "
