New theremin radio show debuts tonight!

Spellbound: a brief program of music for theremin debuts Saturday, January 15, on Indie Radio Live. The half-hour weekly program airs at 11:30 PM Eastern US time (0430 GMT, 6:00 PM Pacific US time, 3:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (Australia)) and is hosted by David Vesel.

The program grew out of David's existing show, Escape From Noise, which mostly features vocal electronica. But late last year David began a new feature, the "Theremin Song of the Week", because of his interest in the instrument. Response was overwhelmingly positive and so he began seeking out thereminists with recorded output to feature. It became apparent by New Year's that there was both the demand and the supply for a regular show. The theremin music took over the entire last half hour of Escape From Noise, and Spellbound was born.

The playlist presently features music by Lydia Kavina, Wilco Botermans, The Lothars, Mystique, Peter Pringle, Project:Pimento, and Eric Ross. The search is on for more music in all genres.

To listen, proceed to http://www.indieradiolive.com at the prescribed time and click on the button labeled "LIVE ~ Radio ~ LIVE" on the right hand toolbar. Select "Broadband" (64kbps) or "Modem" (18kbps) and your preferred audio client will start up automatically. Indie Radio Live broadcasts using Icecast 2, and so is compatible with most audio clients.

The home page for Spellbound is at http://www.purplenote.com/efn/spellbound.htm.

The search continues for more independently produced music for theremin. If you are a thereminist with recordings available, please contact David Vesel at efn@topicbox.com.
