Bluesman R.L. Burnside, who frequently toured with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, passed away in a hospital in Memphis yesterday, according to his label. His 1996 album, An Ass Pocket of Whiskey features Jon Spencer wailing away on a vintage Vanguard theremin (which was subsequently stolen, and then replaced with one of Mark Keppinger and Steven Hasten's vaccuum tube models, but I digress...)
