I would anticipate that there'll be a handful of other high-calibre thereminists attending anyway, and it's possible that other theremin 'celebrities' will be booked up nearer the time.
I'm still contemplating whether or not to go. The fact that PP isn't going (once again) sort of takes away half the reason I'd want to go, but considering my entire family desperately wants an excuse to visit the USA, and considering I'd really, really enjoy it anyway. . . .
. . . Who knows. We'll see. Hopefully.
Shame though - I'm not bothered about hob-nobbing with the celebs, but I'd really love to meet up with some of the guys from the theremin world forums and hang out.
So, I know I said I wouldn't do anything about it yet, but what the hey, I'm just off to make another posting in World Thereminisation, seems appropriate somehow...
See you there...
James
It also a shame Jason Barile (Theremin World) and David Vesel (Cygnus Radio, Spellbound) won't be able to make it either.
Some of the questions that come to mind are:
Concerts: who is playing when? There are three nights of concerts and Lydia and Wilco are the only performers listed? Is there another "mystery performer"?
Workshops: What topics will be covered? Will there be beginning and advanced topics?
Master Class: What repertoire will be covered? Particularly if one is playing, one would want to know the repertoire in advance.
Will there be opportunities for private lessons with Lydia and/or Wilco?
I, too, am surprised that Dorit is scheduled to be elsewhere at that time, given that she is Moog's Theremin ambassador.
Anyway, hope more info will be out before too long.
To all of you in doubt about the program I would say: take the leap. It's always inspiring to meet and see other thereministst. And even seeing Lydia Kavina playing live for half an hour is such a source of inspiration. So what a great opportunity it is to be able to attend a workshop by Lydia!
(And I say this out of recent experience. Lydia is in Holland now, giving workshops and concerts. I attended almost all of them. Can't wait till she is gone so I can take up practicing again ;-))
