With so many thereminists in the UK, Hands Off 2007 can be a truely spectacular event.
I will add a link from my website to the Hands Off site this evening or tommrrow.

You guys are all so excellent. Keep 'em coming!
Incidentally, I spoke with Lydia Kavina this evening. She will be offering private tuition while she is at the symposium. Also, she has come up with a brilliant suggestion that I so hope comes together. If it does you will be sure to hear all about it!

Announcement is on the Digg.com news site here:-
Digg (http://digg.com/music/Hands_Off_The_Hands_On_Theremin_Extravaganza)
I tried to set a 'Digg it' button up on the theremin.org.uk page, but the code behind it stops it working as I thought it would.

I'm so jealous!
And surprised, I thought it was full up as soon as you'd announced it. There seem to be a lot of players there and it is so cheap!
I know it's all in the timing,
but any UK thereminists:
GO!
It's really inspiring to meet other thereminists and see all the different styles.
Plus more than just going to a crowded show, you get to hang out together.
JUST GO!

Excellent. Hope it goes well, Charlie.
omhoge - I'm not. I've been here before and I know how it goes.
This is the situation. We are ten days into accepting bookings and so far we have 20% of the necessary number. That's not bad. There are a bunch more who are on the edge of committing but need a bit of time and encouragement. Those I have had contact with are sufficient to take it over 50%. And then there are those who like to play it cool, wait and see how things develop and buy in at the last minute. And there are a whole ton of potential attendees who we haven't reached yet.
In ideal circumstances I'd be working my tail off on all these fronts (and thereby keeping busy rather than dwelling on the agonising wait for people to click on the pay button) and drawing on the most powerful resource I know of - teamwork. But as it is we need the teamwork aspect even more than usual. And I know the people of this community - Theremin World - are up to it. They are certainly up to a challenge - you don't take on learning the theremin if you're the type to give up easily - they are creative and imaginative - making music is precisely an act of creativity and imagination - and they are intelligent, thoughtful people - you only have to follow the forum for a few days to see there isn't a single knuckle-dragging foul-mouthed oik amongst us. And they want this to happen. To me that sounds like the makings of an amazing force for achievement.
And it is happening. People are jumping on the wagon, if you like, and saying yes, I am doing my bit, and coming up with ideas for new ways to help. Digg, for instance. I wouldn't have thought of that. It takes less than a minute to click on the link above, sign up, and add your vote - I know - I just did it - and that is something everyone can do.
So the show will go on!
(Apparently I am known as Mr Enthusiasm by some people - in a good way - perhaps soon they'll start calling me Mr Determination.)

That's cool. Thanks.
Maybe you should add the names Barbara Buchholz and Carolina Eyck to your blog entry. I just confirmed them!
Which reminds me - there's a fine video of Carolina on youTube that folk may have missed because her name is spelled wrong.

And here's a video of Barbara on mySpace that deserves more views...
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1448992947
(So if you're someone who is still hesitating over coming, there are two more amazing reasons to pay a visit to http://theremin.org.uk and book your place.)
Oh, by the way Jon, you are no longer the only person travelling over from the States. I took a booking from one of your compatriots, (and also an occasional poster on TW too.)
And Alexander - yes, you did. We were just having a pleasant chat and then suddenly out of the blue there's this compliment, real as a nightstick. But I took it like a man. Did you see it in my eyes? Try that again, sunshine, and I'll get hospitable on your sorry butt.
