Hey - you guys are doing great - we're over a quarter of the way there as of yesterday!

Still a little behind schedule, so keep pushing! And if you've been watching from the sidelines - join in. Go on. :-)

(Just to make sure - you did read the last posting on the previous page - didn't you? - the one about the prize draw. Yes? Oh, good. I'd have hated you to miss that bit.)

Yup. You couldn't stay three nights in a Travel Lodge for that much. You certainly couldn't go to a gig too.

You could have gone to see Madonna perform in Wales last year if she hadn't cancelled and you didn't want to buy a box of matches as well.

But (just to play Devil's advocate for a moment) it's a good price unless you can't afford it.

Of course "can't afford" often means "not as high a priority as other stuff like regular trips to the pub or instantly gratifying one's GAS" (Great acronym by the way DiggyDog) and sometimes means "don't have the discipline to save up."

For me, attending means "putting off buying the next pedal for a few months more" and I'm happy with that.

:-)

...of course, sometimes it means "hard up as it is and probably even more so after footing travel costs for upcoming gigs and arranging gigs for American Theremin players who get forwarded to me by Gordon."

I'm sorry Alexander - since you can't make it to the symposium I figured the least I could do was try to send a few players in your direction - especially since you did such sterling work with Pamelia and Dorit and you did tell me you were trying to build a theremin scene in Bristol. Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel may not be quite as high profile as those ladies but they're still a cracking little combo.

I'm a bit gutted that I'm going to miss you playing again. Oxford is within travelling distance for me but I need more notice next time!

Say - maybe you could send Lydia an invite - she's about a quarter of an hour away from the Port Mahon. :-)

I might do, but I can't imagine she'd be too thrilled by my use of the Theremin!

Oh, I'm not so sure - she has recorded some fairly left field things herself. And didn't you recently remark that you were emulating one of her star pupils, or words to that effect.

Hold on a minute - surely I'm not detecting a faint whiff of nervousness here? Nah, can't be. The Alexander Thomas I know has a pair bigger than Gordon Ramsay's. Don't fret - Lydia's lovely - I'm confident she wouldn't rip you to shreds like some other pitch perfect players.

Back on-topic - the trickle continues unabated - now approaching one third of the required bookings.
