Distant Voices: A New Pitch-Only Theremin From Widara

Distant Voices Theremin

Czech manufacturer Widara has released a new snazzy-looking pitch only theremin that runs on batteries or AC power.  It features a compact design with a retractable antenna for easy transport. You can use it with headphones or an amp.  Distant Voices is listed for sale for just 83 € on their site.

And naysayers... Widara is one step ahead of you.  Here's an excerpt from their website:

Also this is not meant to play melodies as much as it is meant to produce a nice spectrum of horrifying sounds and noises.

Still, it's inexpensive and could be lots of fun for someone who's looking for a touch of touchless music.

Yeeshkul… very nicely done. You have brought a product to market and furnished a sound byte, something few accomplish. I have designed a universal theremin proximity volume control that would work excellent with your pitch section. I will eventually make it public again. Your earlier theremin models had a sweeter sound (sine wave). Keep exploring as theremin research is the never ending project.

Hi Christopher, thank you, i am glad you liked it. Although it doesn't look like it from the videos, my previous theremin had the same sound - just my amp wasn't cranked. This time i turned pregain on my amp to the max. This model is lauder and the pitch pole is a bit more sensitive, as i wanted to get close Jimmy Page's performances. I will definitely keep exploring :).
