The theremin community's unofficial "new music hunter" Thorwald Jørgensen has done it again, announcing on his blog today that he's been working with Russian composer Andrew Popoff on two new compositions for theremin! As he points out, there are relatively few pieces composed specifically for theremin as compared with more common instruments, so this is big news! One of the pieces was originally composed for thereminist Olesya Rostovskaya with a second part for tape. Thorwald will premier it next month with the tape part re-scored for orchestra.
Congratulations to Thorwald and a big thanks go to Andrew Popoff for composing new music for the theremin!
