Utamin Introduces Kids to Space Control

The Utamin

Here's something for your holiday shopping list, especially if you have kids to shop for (or if you agree with Engadget, someone else's kids to shop for).

The Utamin has 2 modes - one that plays back pre-programmed music, and another that acts more like a discrete pitch scale theremin.

On one hand, this kind of toy can introduce kids to space control concepts at an early age. On the other hand, it's pure novelty - at least until someone circuit bends it and hacks in CV output. What do you think? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Now... I wonder what would happen if Siri played with a Utamin?
